About Us

Meet the Practice Owner

Hello, I’m Tammy!

1714 Smithville Hwy McMinnville, TN, 37110, US

"I love not rushing the process. Mind doesn’t shift until it does, and when it does shift, it’s right on time, not one second too late or too soon. People are like seeds waiting to sprout. We can’t be pushed ahead of our own understanding.” ~ Byron Katie

Blooming Minds Counseling is a private practice led by Tammy Pawlak and Cyndi Nunn, based in McMinnville, Tennessee. As a dedicated team, we provide support to couples, individuals, families, and children throughout Warren, Cannon, White, Coffee, Rutherford, and surrounding counties.

At Blooming Minds Counseling, we are also a teaching clinic, so from time to time, we welcome interns as part of our collective team. This allows us to contribute to the development of future therapists while continuing to offer high-quality care to our clients

We embrace a family systems perspective here at Blooming Minds Counseling, providing services through a holistic and integrated approach. I’m proud to have Cyndi Nunn on my team. With over 13 years of our collaboration in this field, Cyndi brings specialized expertise in supporting adults, parents, and caregivers. Together, we work seamlessly to address the diverse needs of families, combining our strengths to offer the most effective support for every member of the family unit.

We offer a wide range of therapeutic approaches to help children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families explore and address their feelings and challenges. Our methods include sandtray therapy, filial and expressive therapies, and play-based interventions, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

We are equipped to support clients facing various challenges, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, grief and loss, anger management, domestic violence, trauma, attachment issues, and the complexities of adoption and foster care. We also have particular expertise in treating Autism Spectrum Disorder, working with clients aged 3 and up.

We are here to support you as you begin the important work of addressing and overcoming any challenges you may face. Together, we’ll navigate the path to your goals with dedication and compassion.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

What is Clinical Supervision?

According to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), clinical MFT supervision is the process of evaluating, training, and providing oversight to trainees using relational or systemic approaches for the purpose of helping them attain systemic clinical skills. Supervision is provided to MFT or MFT trainees through in-person and technology-assisted means allowed through the AAMFT Approved Supervision Designation: Standards Handbook.

As an AAMFT trained clinical supervisor, my goal is to set the professional precedents of systemic therapy while nurturing a collaborative learning environment for MFT trainees.

Upon agreement to begin the supervisor/trainee relationship, the trainee will be provided the AAMFT code of ethics, an outline of systemic theories, a supervision contract, and prepare trainees for taking and passing the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Board’s (AMFTRB) Examination.

What is the requirement for hours?

Tennessee has one MFT license, Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT). There is also a temporary license for applicants completing their requirements.

  • Completion of the requirements for the temporary license.
  • Once deemed eligible by the Board, pass a written and oral exam prescribed by the Board.
  • Includes a jurisprudence exam.
  • Completion of two years of post-degree clinical experience as an MFT.
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours of clinical practice.
  • 200 hours must be directly supervised by a Board-approved supervisor.

How often does Clinical Supervision occur?

Supervisory review must be conducted for at least 4 hours per month (1 hour weekly) with at least 1 hour of review being on an individual basis. Supervision may also be conducted in a group setting as long as 50% of the group supervision includes individual contact in which active functions and records of the limited licensee are reviewed.

Cost of supervision?

Currently in Tennessee, there are no set fees for licensure supervision services. For limited licensees contracting out supervision services, all fees should be negotiated with the LMFT and written in to the supervision contract.

Location of supervision?

Supervision services are based at Blooming Minds Counseling at 1714 Smithville Hwy. in McMinnville, TN 37110. Telehealth supervision is also an option.

Does my supervisor have to be on site?

No. Supervision can be held in any location, but client confidentiality must be ensured.

INSURANCES ACCEPTED

We also participate in numerous EAP Programs
